Care Instructions
It is well known that Egyptian cotton becomes softer with continuous use. Proper care of Tut towels keeps the towels' beautiful lustre, ultra-softness, and exceptional absorbency for a long time, making them an investment that only improves over time.
For proper care:
- Wash separately before first use to remove any residue and increase softness and absorbency
- Warm gentle machine wash at 30 – 40 degrees using gentle detergent (non-bio (enzyme-free detergent)
- Do not bleach and do not use fabric softener, as these can damage the fibres and reduce absorbency
- Line drying is ideal, but warm tumble drying on a low heat is perfectly good.
- Do not iron this, as it can damage the fibres and reduce softness
- Do not dry clean the towels
What is GSM?
GSM stands for grams per square metre, a measurement of a towel's weight. The lower the GSM, the lighter and less absorbent the towel, and the quicker it dries. On the other hand, the higher the GSM, the heavier and more absorbent the towel, and it takes longer to dry.
At Tut Textile, we selected what we believe to be the ideal weight with our 600 GSM bath towels. These are luxurious without being overly heavy, making them ideal for baths and beaches. They are soft and absorbent while still being easy to care for.
We are using 400 GSM for our kitchen towels, which, while soft and absorbent, are also lighter, quicker to dry, and suitable for kitchen use.
